Norwegian smolt producer, BioFish, signed a new supplier contract to deliver around 320,000 smolts with an expected average weight of 60-70 grams to a “major” aquaculture player, the company disclosed.

This contract will significantly increase the company’s ability to produce larger post-smolt with scheduled delivery in March 2024 and is a part of Biofish’s planned ramp-up of production. BioFish is on-track with finalizing its production RAS facility at Ljones which will be open in September 2023.

The company’s land-based production facility consists of a hatchery, feeding station, on-growing and vaccination stations, producing smolt and post-smolt in closed-containment systems (CCS). The production facility uses a RAS which recycles at least 99% of the water used. The new production facilities aim to reach 2,200 tons of annual production.
