The 2nd West African Regional Conference on Aquaculture that was originally scheduled for March 26-29, 2023 has been postponed.

The government of Nigeria has announced the National Population and Housing Census program will take place from March 29 to April 1. This was disclosed by the chairman of National Population Commission (NPC), Nasir Isa Kwarra, during a press briefing shortly after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Following consultations with the conference hosts, partners and sponsors, the organizing committee has decided to postpone the event to May 14-17, 2023.

The three-day event will focus on discussing the policy framework of the largest aquaculture market in sub-Saharan Africa and Aller Aqua’s strategic role in it. It will have representations from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and rural development (FMARD) and discussions amongst key stakeholders of the aquaculture industry in Nigeria and the region. The conference will highlight the current state of aquaculture policy issues in Nigeria and chart a policy framework, focus group discussions and policy recommendations for the aquaculture industry, and the activities of FAO and USAID in the development of the Nigerian Aquaculture industry.
