Hatchery Specialist - The Netherlands

Kingfish Zeeland is looking for a hatchery specialist to assist in the day-to-day management of the production of juveniles.

The production of juveniles is a continuous process that demands attention seven days a week, up to 12 hours per day, so the candidate should be flexible in working hours. The candidate will be working within the hatchery team that has a current size of six people.

For the first months, he/she will be responsible for the artemia production and get to know the team and fingerling production process. In time, the candidate will be able to make decisions that determine the success of fingerling production independently. He/she will instruct personnel on the demands of live food and have practical skills to identify technical failure and do small repairs.

Within the hatchery, the company’s production protocols are constantly revised with new insight. Improvements in production stability, quantity and quality are constantly researched and cost reductions are strived for. The candidate should be capable to identify bottlenecks, participate in discussions and have the ability to come up with new ideas that can be translated into practical applications.

Requirements:

  • MSc education in a relevant field.
  • Experience in a relevant field.
  • Good writing skills to report day to day findings.
  • Flexible attitude and great communication skills.
  • Able to assist in research projects and supervise students working on the company’s projects.
