Life science-based fish farming company BluGen Korea Co., Ltd. joined forces with Alpha Aqua in a joint venture to provide advanced RAS planning, design, construction and full-service packages to the South Korean aquaculture markets.

The Alpha Aqua system is going to produce 500 tons of olive flounder per year in its first phase of development using its latest technology in conjunction with BluGen Korea’s farming expertise.

Alpha Aqua’s goal is to solve the existing challenges in the current sea cage and flow through production in the area with its patented raceways system. This project will be the first of a series of plants in the Republic of Korea and the surrounding countries. With this modular and replicable approach, the raceways are to drive the development of sustainable land-based fish farming in Korea.

The Alpha Aqua raceways are based on a modular construction method allowing for flexibility in both length and height and are furthermore completely built-in food grade PP. The integrated slides allow for easy grading and the pressurized inlet ensures continuous removal of suspended solids throughout the complete raceway while providing uniform water distribution. The olive flounder RAS farm will have 9,000 m2 of farming surface in only 1,500 m2.

BluGen Korea is aiming to be listed on the Korean stock exchange (KOSDAQ) in two years. This will make them the first listed fish farming company in the Korean fish farming industry.
