Billund Aquaculture hits record-high signed contracts

Friday, April 24, 2020

Billund Aquaculture will be adding 12 more locations to its list of projects: four construction contracts in Chile for Atlantic salmon parr, smolt and post-smolt facilities for a total of €28 million; one trout facility in Peru; three salmon smolt and post-smolt facilities in Norway for a total of €50 million; one kingfish facility in Central Europe; and three design contracts for Atlantic salmon grow-out in Asia and the Middle East.

Regarding this major achievement, Steffen Busk Jespersen, Group CEO of Billund Aquaculture said that “considering our vast experience and leadership in the market, we are very proud and happy about the trust our customers have placed in us. The fact that so many companies have chosen us as their technology partners is very gratifying, especially since most of the projects are linked to recurring market-leading customers. Despite the difficult times, the world is going through, we feel positive and confident about our success moving forward to resume our plans for continued growth. The current challenges caused by the restrictions in place to reduce the spread of the coronavirus are affecting us. But, so far we have not seen any contract cancellations or postponement of contract negotiations, but we anticipate these challenges will affect the speed of growth.”

Bjarne Hald Olsen, COO and business and development manager of Billund Aquaculture, added that “this milestone is further proof of our experience within RAS, with over 500 RAS built across more than 140 projects worldwide, leaving us in a great position to handle any future challenges to come. The main advantages of our RAS systems are their minimum water requirements, better health and biosecurity conditions, control over farming parameters and the stability and predictability of production, all of which leads to a more reliable and efficient process that significantly reduces environmental impact.”
