Benchmark Genetics Chile joined SalmonChile, an association that joins the main producers and suppliers of Atlantic salmon, coho and trout in Chile with more than 50 partners.
“We are extremely happy that Benchmark Genetics Chile wanted to be part of SalmonChile. We are proud that this company feels that our values as a union are similar to theirs and that they would like to join forces for responsible and sustainable salmon farming. Likewise, the international experience that Benchmark Genetics has is extremely important and I know that it will help us continue to grow and achieve our goals,” said president of SalmonChile, Arturo Clément.
Benchmark Genetics is a specialist in salmon genetics and thanks to their meticulous work and detailed research, they are able to identify which individuals have the fastest growths and are more resistant to diseases. This allows the new generations to improve and produce eggs that better meet the needs of the industry.
Likewise, this company has local and international teams of researchers and geneticists who share knowledge, experience and technology, with the aim of improving genetic gains to solve local biological challenges and increase productivity in salmonids and other species in aquaculture.
“At Benchmark Genetics Chile, we feel honored and proud to have been accepted as members of SalmonChile and have the opportunity to be part of a union that shares our aspirations to achieve quality excellence and the best environmental, economic and social standards in production salmon”, said general manager of Benchmark Genetics Chile, Pablo Mazo.
“Our incorporation to SalmonChile represents for us a step forward in our path of commitment with the industry, but also with the communities and their people, allowing us to strengthen our way of getting involved and channeling our support towards them. At the same time, it gives us the opportunity and the responsibility to take an active and dialoguing part in the debate in the search for solutions to face the biological and economic challenges of the sector, as well as to participate as a counterpoint in regulatory decisions and in the generation and distribution of quality technical and commercial information on the salmon industry in Chile,” stated Mazo.
